LEXINGTON, Ky. (November 28, 2011) - After a storied 2011 season, Rollins outside hitter Megan Hodges racks up another award to wrap up her sophomore campaign as she garnered AVCA All-America First Team honors, it was announced Monday.
The Orlando native joins 27 first-time recipients of the award with a total of 79 honorees, with six hailing from the Sunshine State Conference. Tampa's Danielle Selkridge joins Hodges as a first team recipient. Lindsay Biggs (Eckerd) and Julie Howlett (Tampa) were third team selections, while Eva Dupay (Tampa) and 2011 SSC Freshman of the Year Kahley Patrick (Tampa) were honorable mention honorees.
Hodges concludes the 2011 season averaging 4.23 kills per set, which is 16th best in the nation. She also ranks 19th amongst all Division II volleyball players in points per set (4.79). She led the squad with 12 double-doubles; including a career high 28 kills against conference foe Florida Tech.
On the season, Hodges registered 550 kills to place her second in the Rollins single-season kills list and fourth in the total attacks column with 1,439 attempts. She has aided the Tars in posting their second straight 20+ win season, along with the program's second consecutive postseason bid. The team also registered the most conference wins in program history.
In 2011, Hodges has been named All-SSC First Team, AVCA All-South Region, and Daktronics All-South Region.
