LAKELAND, Fla. (February 14, 2012) - Rollins turned in a final round 297 on a tough scoring day to finish ninth at the Florida Southern Matlock Invitational on Tuesday.

Four teams were within on shot of the championship, which was won by Florida Tech with scores of 286-290-295 (871). Lynn, Florida Southern and Barry each totaled 872 strokes and tied for second at what became the tightest finish in the 31-year history of the event.

Tyler Sluman led Rollins, tying for 16th among the 75 participants. The sophomore FSU transfer shot rounds of 71 and 74 on Monday and finished with a 75 Tuesday to total 220 strokes.

Hunter Stone tied for 31st and turned in the Tars' best round of the day with a 71, following scores of 73 and 79 on Monday (223).

Scott Lamb and Davis Hall both finished with 228 shots and tied for 46th. Lamb recovered from an opening round 83 to post scores of 73 and 72 over the final 36 holes while Hall carded rounds of 75-74-79.  Spencer Cole tied for 55th place, shooting 76-74-80 (230).

Rollins will be back in Polk County for its next event, taking part in the Webber Intercollegiate Feb. 19-20 in Lake Wales.
