MELBOURNE, Fla. (October 10, 2012) - Junior Megan Hodges registered 24 kills to lead the Tars 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-15) over the Florida Tech Panthers in a crucial road win Wednesday night at the Clemente Center.

Rollins now improves to 10-8 overall and 4-3 in the SSC, while Florida Tech falls to 12-6 on the season and 3-4 in league play.

Hodges' 24 kills tied her season-high against Minnesota State Moorhead in the Tars' season opening tournament.  She also hit .618 and registered seven digs and a season-high three blocks.  Middle blocker Camille Indest added 10 kills and six blocks.

In the absence of setter Kiana Parks, freshman's April Jackson and MaryEllen Pole shared the floor as Jackson recorded 26 assists and Pole 22.  Each of the setters also dug four balls.

In the opening frame against the Florida Tech Panthers, the Tars struggled as they made up an 11-point deficit to come within three at the 23-20 mark on a kill by Indest.  FIT was able to get a ball down on the Tars' side of the court for match point and took the set on a kill from Marilyn Dick.

Rollins carried over their momentum from the first set as they evened the match at one apiece.  The Tars took an early lead on a 6-1 run and led by as many as nine on a kill by Megan Hodges.  The Tars hit .462 as a team as Hodges recorded seven kills en route to the Rollins' 25-17 win in the second set.

In set No. 3, Rollins took the 2-1 lead as they won 25-23.  The set saw multiple ties with the final coming at 21-all on a Rollins attack error.  The Tars were able to put up two quick points on back-to-back kills from Jill Lau and Indest.  Another kill from Indest gave Tars match point, while back-to-back errors by the Panthers handed the Tars the win.

The Tars made quick work of the Panthers in the final set taking a 25-15 win.  Rollins took a lead after a 3-all tie on a kill from Indest and never looked back.

Rollins will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 12 as they head back to Warden Arena as they host Lynn University.  Match time is set for 7 p.m.  Fans can catch all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
