ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (April 6, 2012) - Head Coach Jon Sjogren collected his 200th Rollins win in a 4-1 decision over Eckerd in game one of Friday's doubleheader and completed the series win with a 13-0 thumping in the rubber match.  Three of Sjogren's milestone victories have come against Eckerd.

Rollins bounced back on their feet in the final day of the series as they took game one of the doubleheader, 4-1.  Josh Band and Greg Smith each belted home runs over the right field wall in the top of the fourth.

Band led off the inning hitting a first-pitch home run.  Five batters later and runners on second and third, Smith belted a three-run bomb to give the Tars a 4-0 lead.

Eckerd was able to get on the board in the bottom of the sixth with a run by Alex del Monte for the Tritons only run of the game.

Tars starter Anthony Figliolia (5-1) pitched his fifth win of the season tossing 8.0 innings and striking out a season-high five batters, allowing two walks and one earned run.  Figliolia's counterpart, Jordan Huchro was charged with the loss in 7.1 innings of work as he struck out two, allowed two walks and scattered six hits.

Band finished the day going 1-for-3 with a home run, RBI and run scored.  Smith was 1-for-4 with a home run, run scored while tying his career-high of three RBI.

In the rubber match, Rollins struck early scoring a run in the opening frame.  Anthony Figliolia resumed his position at third and reached on a slow roller to the pitcher.  He then stole second and scored on a RBI single by Brian Lattanzi.

The Tars had a big fourth inning adding three runs to their lead on four costly Tritons errors.  After Kevin Mager led off the inning with a base hit, Lattanzi reached first on a single to left and made it to second on an error by the leftfielder.  He then came around to score on a RBI single by Greg Smith.

Smith, along with Josh Band, then scored the following runs on a fielding error by the Tritons second baseman for the 4-0 lead.

Rollins then opened up the flood gates in the fifth inning knocking in seven runs on seven hits.  The Tars batted around with three making two plate appearances in the inning.  Figliolia, Zach Persky, Steve Betcherman, Lattanzi, Smith, Nick Adams and Sean Reilly each scored runs for the Tars to lead 11-0.

In the following frame, Rollins tacked on another two runs to cap the scoring.  Pinch-hitter Tyler Jacobs scored the first run of the sixth while Reilly added another run to his day.

Freshman Brett Mueller keeps a flawless record picking up his fourth win of the season.  The southpaw went 5.0 innings and fanned four while issuing only one walk and allowing no runs.

Eckerd starter Jake Wilder was charged with the loss going 3.1 innings, allowing two walks and one earned run.

Figliolia and Persky led all hitters with three hits each while Adams, Lattanzi and Reilly chipped in with two apiece.

Rollins will return to their home field on Wednesday, April 11 as they step out of nonconference play to host the Flagler Saints.  First pitch is set for 6 p.m.  Fans can follow all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
