PHILADELPHIA (May 14, 2011) - Continuing to show improvement throughout the season, the Rollins men's novice four concludes the 2011 season as the only undefeated men's crew.
Starting off the day as the sixth race, the Rollins men's novice four edged out Virginia (7:06.49) for first in their heat and the second best time overall. Rollins clocked a time of 7:05.33.
The four then earned a spot in the grand final facing competition from Virginia, Army, Villanova, Michigan, and Merchant Marine. The crew wasted no time and drew their momentum from their previous race to take first by a time of 7:03.17 to win the Lindy Cup. The Tars edged out their opponent once again, this time Virginia, as the Cavaliers clocked a time of 7:03.39.
Taking third was Michigan (7:08.40), followed by Merchant Marine (7:09.43) in fourth, Virginia (7:15.78) in fifth, and Army (7:16.02) in sixth.
The men's pair also earned a spot in the semifinals racing a time of 7:39.76, almost nine seconds behind first place Drexel (7:30.83). Advancing to the grand final, the men's pair finished fourth, with an improved time of 7:31.68.
Drexel took first (7:17.70) in the men's pair, followed by Lafayette (7:20.47) in second, Iona (7:26.20) in third, Pittsburgh (7:32.00) in fifth, and Fairfield (7:35.34) in sixth.
