CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (November 10, 2011) - The Rollins men's rowing team headed to Chattanooga, Tenn. for the 2011 Head of the Chattahoochee where they competed in the men's championship 8 and 4.

The team headed into their second regatta of the season with much anticipation in hopes of changing Rollins' rowing history at the said race.  The event started with the Championship 8's (Eric Pagan (cox), Brian Burch, Ryan Webb, Kip Zimmerman, Mitch Verboncoeur, Ali Hakim, Rob Spolsino, Tim Mazzota, and Nick Pittari) where Rollins finished eighth, just nine seconds behind in-state rival Florida.  The Tars' eighth place (15:39.9) finish was the best Rollins has recorded in the past four years.

The Tars backed up their performance in the Championship 4's with a seventh and 10th-place showing.  The men's A team (Pagan (cox), Burch, Pittari, and Spolsino) finished 11 seconds behind first-place Wheaton College.  The men's B team, comprised of Maggie Klein (cox), Webb, Zimmerman, Hakim, and Verboncoeur, clocked in at 17:28.3 for 10th.  Rollins also raced a third team, the men's C, which comprised of Rachel Reams (cox), Christian Rains, David Rice, Ethan White, and Andrew Bayse, and registered a time of 18:31.9.

Up next for both the men's and women's teams is the Florida Fall Classic set for Saturday, Nov. 12 in Fellsmere, Fla.
