PACE, Fla. (May 8, 2012) - For the first time since the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament was established, Rollins will not be in the field as the Tars finished tied for seventh Tuesday in the NCAA Super Regional. 

The Tars carded scores of 312-308-309 in the tournament, tying Newberry with 929 strokes.

Florida Southern ran away with the title, totaling 902 (302-296-304) strokes. Runner-up Nova Southeastern (914) and third place Barry (922) earned the last two spots to the national championship.

Freshman Kayla Sciupider tied for seventh and the last individual national tournament bid with Armstrong Atlantic's Jenna Birch. The pair then replayed No. 1 in a sudden death playoff. They were shot for shot from the tee box, but Birch chipped in from 12 feet behind the green and captured the final transfer spot.

Sciupider finished the tournament with 223 strokes, notching rounds of 77-70-76. On Tuesday, she was four-over after the first eight holes, but got two strokes back over the next four. She bogeyed No. 16, but got it back with a birdie on 17.Sciupider then double bogeyed 18 while Birch scored a bogey to force the playoff.

Fabia Rothenfluh ended her illustrious career tying for 21^st with 232 strokes. She started the tournament with a 76 and finished with back-to-back rounds of 78.

Clara Teixeira totaled 236 strokes and tied for 26^th for the Tars. The newcomer scored rounds of 78-81-77 at the event. Elin Marcsdottir tied for 36^th with a score of 240, turning in 83-79-78. Kristen Garabedian was 10 back in a tie for 46^th, shooting 81-82-87.

West Florida hosted the Super Regional at Stonebrook Golf Club in Pace, Fla.

Rollins had been the only school to compete at all 11 NCAA Division II National Championships, winning five titles, finishing runner-up five times and once landing in third. Last season, the Tars finished second to three-time defending national champion Nova Southeastern.
