Winter Park, Fla. (March 5, 2017) – The Rollins Men’s Rowing Team began their 2017 spring season on Lake Maitland Saturday morning. Thankfully the wind was not as bad as expected but conditions were still not the most favorable. The Men’s Novice 4 (line-up) crossed the line 10 seconds ahead of Central Florida bringing home the Tars first gold medal of the season. The novice 4 led the race early and was able to hang on through the crosswind of the middle 1000m. Once the crews crossed the 1500m mark, Central Florida made a push but ended up having some issues and Rollins was able to pull away across the line.

The only other men’s boat for the Tars was the Men’s Varsity 4 which finished 2nd out of the 3 boats in the race.

Rollins will be back on Lake Maitland next Saturday, March 11, hosting the Rollins Invitational.  The men will be having a duel with Stetson University and looking to improve on their times and performance from today.
