AT A GLANCE - Rollins heads into the final week of the regular season looking to earn a top seed in the upcoming Sunshine State Conference Tournament and a first round home game. They will have to do so on the road, facing Barry Wednesday, followed by a trip to Nova Southeastern on Saturday. The Tars fell to Florida Tech 71-56 on Senior Day last Saturday, eliminating them from SSC title contention. The race comes down to Florida Tech and Eckerd with FIT having the upper hand. Myk Brown led the Tars againt Tech with 17 points. Chris Malcolm raked up six blocks and in the process, became Rollins' all-time blocks leader with 109 in his two-year career. The Tars rank sixth in the SSC in offense with 68 a game while surrendering 67 points on defense. The Tars have won just one of their last five, struggling from the field during the span and averaging 61 points while allowing nearly 74. Rollins is 5-4 away from home this season, including a 5-2 mark in conference play...Barry (12-14; 6-8 SSC) is fighting for seeding in the SSC tournament as well and can secure a home game with a big final week and some help. The Bucs snapped a four-game losing streak with a big 68-66 upset over SSC frontrunner Eckerd on Saturday. Justin McCoy netted 21 to lead the Barry effort. The Bucs rank seventh in the SSC in offense with 67 points a night, while allowing an eighth-best 68 points a game. Barry is tied with Rollins atop the SSC's blocked shots chart with 4.7 swats a game. The Bucs are a solid 10-3 at home this season, including a 5-1 mark in SSC play.
THE STARS - Two members of the Rollins 1,000 point club headline the Tars attack. Jeremy Sharpe (1,040 points) averages 12.7 points a game while Myk Brown (1,154 points) is netting 12.1 a game. Chris Malcolm fills the stat sheet with 11.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and an SSC-leading 2.6 blocks a game. Ian Scott leads the conference with four assists a game...Evan White is the top scorer for Barry with nearly 13 points a game. Chad Renfro adds 12.4 points and 4.2 rebounds a night.
THE COACHES - Tom Klusman (Rollins '76), now in his 32nd year at the helm of his alma mater, ranks fifth among active Division II coaches and ranks 18th all-time with a record of 590-326... Cesar Odio (Florida Southern '81) is 280-232 in 17 years leading the Bucs.
THE SERIES - Rollins leads the all-time series against Barry 41-14 and have won the last seven in a row. The Tars won earlier this season in Winter Park, using a 52-point first half to run away 86-67. Jeremy Sharpe netted 20 for Rollins with Ian Scott netting 18. Evan White hit seven 3-pointers en route to a game-high 23 points for Barry.
