WINTER PAR, Fla. (March 4, 2012) - Rollins shutout the Assumption Greyhounds for the second straight time as the Tars posted a 3-0 victory in the second game of the 64th Annual Rollins College Baseball Week Sunday night.

The Tars improve to 11-4 overall, while Assumption drops to 1-4 after defeating Bentley earlier in the day for the Greyhounds first win of 2012.  The shutout was also the Tars' third consecutive on the season.

It was a pitcher's duel through the first five innings as the Tars lost out on a scoring opportunity in the fourth.  Brian Lattanzi was tagged at home after reaching first on an infield single and advancing to second on a stolen base.  On a base hit by Hunter Mayfield, Lattanzi ran straight on home but was tagged on the throw from Assumption second baseman Matt Consigli.

Two innings later, Rollins put up a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead.  Lattanzi and Josh Band were the first two runs of the contest after Lattanzi reached base by way of walk and Band on a double down the right field line.  The two scored on a blooper to left by Boston Langley.

The Tars tacked on an insurance run in the eighth as Lattanzi chalked up his second run of the game on a bases clearing double by Langley.  Langley was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a double.

Earning his first start of the season, Anthony Figliolia (2-0) went seven innings to get tagged with the win and recorded his second straight combined shutout.  He struck out three and allowed three hits.

Assumption starter Ben Hastings was charged with the loss tossing 5.1 and striking out four, allowing four walks, seven hits and two runs.  Third baseman Travis Smith went 2-for-4 for the Greyhounds.

Rollins will be back in action on Tuesday, March 6 as they face-off against Rockhurst at 6 p.m.  Fans can follow all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at
