POLK CITY, Fla. (September 11, 2011) - The Rollins water ski teams fell in a meeting with Florida Southern over the weekend, a tune-up for the NCWSA Eastern Regional in a few weeks.
Behind a big victory in jumping, the Mocs beat the Tars 1605-1190 in the overall standings.
For the men, newcomer Alberto Mejia finished second overall, winning both tricks and jumping. Drew Phillips finished third, followed by Grigorios Sarantis in fifth and Daniel Carter in sixth.
Sarantis was the Tars' top finisher in slalom, taking runner-up honors. Carter finished second. Phillips took third behind Mejia in both tricks and jumping.
For the women, Geena Krueger took third overall while Haley Haines and Clementine Leger tied for fifth. Krueger was third in slalom with Michale Briant finishing fifth. Briant was second in tricks and Krueger took fifth, but let the Tars in jumping with a third place finish.
Rollins will be back on the course Oct. 1-2 at the NCWSA Nationals, looking to qualify for the national championships.
