POLK CITY, Fla. (October 1, 2011) - For the second straight season, Rollins took third at the NCWSA Eastern Regional Championships ad qualified for Division I Nationals.
Rollins posted a combined scored of 5335 over the event, which was won by Florida Southern (6145). The University of Alabama took second with a score of 5485.
The Tars men took third in the slalom, led by a fourth place finish from Daniel Carter. Grigorios Sarantis was eighth wile Drew Phillips took ninth.
Phillips finished seventh in tricks to lead Rollins in a third place event finish. Sarantis was 12th with Carter and Tommy Shugart tying for 13th. Phillips also shined in jumping, taking third place. Alberto Mejia was sixth.
Overall, Phillips finished second with an overall score of 850, just 65 behind winner Alex Paradis of Florida Southern. Carter was seventh and Saranatis in eighth gave the Tars three of the top-10 individual spots.
In the women's division, the Tars finished second in slalom in what was relatively a head-to-head battle with the Mocs. Delfina Cuglievan finished fourth and Geena Krueger finished fifth while Michale Braint took sixth.
Rollins was also runner-up in tricks, led by a victory from Briant. Grueger tied for sixth and Cuglievan came in ninth. In jumping Cuglievan finished fourth and was followed by Krueger in sixth.
Overall, Cuglievan finished fourth and Krueger took fifth.
The Tars head into Nationals as the sixth seed in the top division. Last season, they took fifth in the event, which was won by Louisiana Lafayette.
