DELAND, Fla. (November 12, 2016) – The Rollins women took to the water Saturday morning at the Fall Stetson Regatta in Deland, Florida. This was the first and only event for the Tars this fall where they were entered in the Collegiate 8 (2 boats), Novice 8, Collegiate 4 (2 boats) and Novice 4.

The best finish for the Tars came in the Novice 4 (line-up) who were second behind University of Florida and ahead of Barry, Stetson and Embry Riddle. The collegiate 4 (line-up) finished third, the Collegiate 8 “A” boat finished fourth and the Novice 8 had a tough row finishing sixth in the field.

“The focus of this event was to give the team a taste of racing and to get a feel of what the spring season has is store” said Coach Pistor. “This event was good for us having such a young team and so many athletes who had not touched an oar prior to the middle of September.”

The Tars have a couple weeks of land training before the Holiday’s and will be back on the water on January 18th as they prepare for a busy spring racing season all across the east coast.
