SARASOTA, Fla. (April 28, 2017) – Rollins women's Varsity 4 won gold to lead the Tars to a tie for third at the Sunshine State Conference Championships on Friday.

Rollin scored 11 points in the regatta, tying with two-time defending national champion sixth-ranked Barry for the third slot. Top-ranked Florida Tech won with 16 points while eighth-ranked Nova Southeastern scored 12 and was runner-up.

The Tars boat of Cameron Robinson, Isabella Sandoval, Morgan Colley, Elise Marquette and Elizabeth Berry powered its way down the course at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, facing Nova Southeastern, Florida Tech, Barry and Tampa. Rollins posted a time of 7:38.00, beating NSU by 2.34 seconds. Florida Tech was runner-up and Barry third.

The victory marked the first time Rollins has won the Varsity 4 race under the SSC's current format.

The Varsity 8 took fourth in its race, posting a time of 7:42.82.

Rollins will next compete at the 2017 Dad Vail Championship in Philadelphia, Pa.  May 12-13.
