Charleston, S.C. (September 10-11, 2016) – Competing against the top 18 teams in South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association, Rollins finished 14th to open the season.
On the first day, six races were run before the already light breeze died down. Later in the afternoon, the winds picked up again and allowed nine more sets of sailing. Day two had even more challenging winds, only allowing three sets of sailing on the day.
Hosts, College of Charleston won the event with a score of 93, second place went to Eckerd College (94), and University of Florida (104) landed third place. Rollins ended up with nearly 10 ahead of their closest competitor, the University of Tennessee.
The Tars A division finished with a final score of 157, placing them 15th, with the College of Charleston coming in first, followed by Eckerd College in second, and the University of Florida and Georgia Tech tying for third.
The B division totaled 141 points, placing them 13th, with the University of Florida placing first, Jacksonville University in second, and Eckerd College coming in a close third.
Rollins will be back in action on Sept. 17 at South Points #2 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
