ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (October 18, 2014) - Rollins sailed at the Eckerd venue in St. Petersburg on Saturday, obtaining a fifth-place overall finish. The Tars A Boat racked up a score of 60 in the six races while the B Boat came in with 36, for a team total of 96. Multiple top-5 finishes, including a first-place finish in the 4B race, highlighted the squad’s day.

A total of 13 boats representing six schools competed in the two divisions, A and B. Rollins started the day slowly in the morning then came into their own in the afternoon races when the wind picked up.  The B Boat capitalized on the increased wind later in the day with four top-5 placements in the final four races.

USF was the overall winner of the regatta with a total score of 30 between the A and B squads.

The sailing squad looks to carry the momentum from SP6 forward as it wraps up the fall season in the upcoming weeks. Junior Captain Chance Sweat says that the team is gaining experience every day and is very excited about the upcoming spring season.

The Tars sailing team heads back to St. Petersburg next Saturday, Oct. 25, to compete in the SAISA Match Race hosted by USF.
