WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 28, 2015) - Coach Will Glenn enters his first season as the Sailing Head coach in 2015.
From the day he was born, Coach Glenn has been on a sailboat. He had the privelage of being taught by his father at Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club on Long Island Sound, in Dyer Dhows, Blue Jays, Intl 420’s, Lasers and Windsurfers as well as cruising on their Concordia Yawl. Now he has the honor to pass sailing skills on to future generations.
From 1994-1996 and again in 1999-2000, Glenn trained and competed in US Olympic Trials in Savannah, Ga. and San Francisco, Calif. During his Olympic efforts, he participated in the Laser World Championships, finished second in the Laser North American Grand Prix in 1994 and did a tour of Europe. Since then, Will has focused on raising his own family to love the sport of sailing.
Collegiately, Glenn had a successful career at Florida State University, which produced nationally ranked co-ed and women’s teams consisting of future gold medalists, World Champions, Youth National Champions and America’s Cup skippers. Will led FSU to a SAISA District Championship in the Spring of 1990 and an 11th place finish in the Intercollegiate Sailing Associations coed national championship. While at FSU he was Captain, Commodore, and Chair of the University Sports Club Council.
In High School, Will served as team captain and was named the MVP of the Varsity Sailing Team at Williston-Northampton, leading his team to an appearance in the New England Championships. Additionally, he played football, hockey and lacrosse.
Glenn currently resides in Orlando with his wife of 20 years and three children.
