WINTER PARK, Fla.  (April 16, 2017) – The Tars dominated from the outset on Easter Sunday, earning a 11-5 victory over the Lenoir Rhyne Bears, closing out the non-conference portion of their schedule. 

Rollins improves to 12-3 overall in 2017, while they remain 2-1 in Sunshine State Conference play.  Lenoir Rhyne fall to falls to 9-6 overall, while they sit at 5-2 in Southern Atlantic conference action.

Rollins was led on the day by Kallie German. The sophomore led the team with four goals, and also registered one assists, for a team leading five points.  She was joined in the goals column by seven other Tars; Brittany Eveler, Hannah Ashton, Paige Brock, Elle Ueland, Hannah Coakley, and Maggie Dougherty each found the back of the net once.  Dougherty paced the Tars, dishing out two helpers, while Brock also tallied an assist.  Maddie Hendren and Haley Brock each scooped up three ground balls, while Brock also led the Tars with four caused turnovers.  Malorie Olin continued her stellar play in net for Rollins, making eight saves over the course of the contest.

A pair of Bears, Torrey Schwitkis and Gabby Sousa, scored twice on the day.  Alyssa Sack accounted for the final Lenoir Rhyne goal, also leading the team ground balls, with three.  Rachel Elmore tallied an assist for the Bears, while also picking up three draw controls.  Melissa Bechtel cause three Rollins turnovers on the defensive end of the field.  Ines Flueck played a solid game in cage for Lenoir Rhyne, picking 12 saves in 60 minutes of action.

HIGHLIGHTS AND QUARTER-BY-QUARTER ANALYSIS
First Half l The Tars jumped out to a 4-0 to start the game.  After a spell of possession for the Bears, Rollins capitalized when they finally got the ball in their sticks, Kallie German opening the scoring at the 25:13 mark.  Hannah Ashton, Brittany Eveler and Paige Brock finished off the run, giving the Tars the four goal advantage with 17:56 left to play in the half.  Gabby Sousa broke the streak with a goal for the Bears at the 14:15 mark.  From that point the two teams traded goals, and the Tars would head into the locker room with a 6-2 lead.

Second Half l  Lenoir Rhyne got on the board first in the second half, making it 6-3, before German responded with her second goal of the game.  Again the Bears would claw back, cutting the Rollins lead to three, for the second time, with a Schwitkis goal with 26:51 on the clock, but the Tars repelled the advance and pulled away for good.  Megan Curry, Hannah Coakley, and German accounted for the games next three goals, making it 10-4 at the 19:24 mark.  After a ball found the back of the net for Lenoir Rhyne at 11:40, German tallied her fourth of the game, making the score 11-5, and icing the contest away for the Tars.

GAME NOTES
·       Rollins is now 8-1 while playing at Cahall Sandspur Field this season.
·       The Tars now own a 9-0 record against the Bears.
·       Rollins is outscoring its opponents 198-113 in 15 games this year.
·       Kallie German moved into the top-five in the SSC, having now tallyied 37 goals during the 2017 campaign.

NEXT UP FOR THE TARS
The Tars will return to action on Thursday, April 20, for their final game of their 2017 regular season.  Rollins will host the Florida Tech Panthers in a Sunshine State Conference tilt at home at Barker Family Stadium and Cahall-Sandspur Field.  Game time against the Panthers is set for 7 p.m.  Fans who are unable to attend the contest will be able to follow all of the action live with video on the Geico Tars Sports Network, as well as with live stats on TarsStats.com.
