Rollins Trio Adds NCBWA Honors to Awards List
WINTER PARK, Fla. – Postseason awards continue to pile up for Tars' starting pitcher Tim Griffin and outfielder Taylor Ferguson who were recently recognized by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Division II South Region First Teams. Tars catcher Ben Hewett took home second-team honors.
Griffin has been named a first-team member by the ABCA, Daktronics and Sunshine State Conference along with being named the conference Pitcher of the Year. He finished his senior season with 11-3 record and a 2.76 ERA to lead the team. The two-year starter also led the team in complete-games with seven and tossed three shutouts in his final campaign.
Ferguson, who also has been a first team member by the ABCA, Dakrtonics and SSC, set the Tars’ single-season in hits (99), doubles (27) and total bases (172). He also ends with 14 home runs, 58 RBIs, and 68 runs scored.
Hewett rounded out the Tars on the All-South Region list with a second team honor. He ended his senior season with a .362 average, three home runs, 41 RBIs and a team-best 32 walks.
