MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (March 28, 2017) – Eight-ranked Rollins passed perhaps its biggest test of the season with flying colors Tuesday, winning the Barry Women’s Invitational by 10-strokes.

The Tars went into the final round leading 10th-ranked Lynn by six strokes and proceeded to run away from the field with a score of 290, the best of the day. Rollins seven-over 871 (292-289-290) is 29-shots better than the team’s previous 54-hole season best at the Lady Moc.

Top-ranked Barry finished second with a 17-over score of 881. The Bucs served as hosts of the event at Shula’s Golf Club Senator Course in Miami Lakes.

Lynn finished third with a score of 886 and ninth-ranked Nova Southeastern took fourth with 892 strokes.

Seher Atwal vaulted 13 spots in the final round to lead Rollins and tie for fourth place. She shot a career-record 69 final round and ended with a one-over score of 217 (75-73-69). Her final round included just one bogey to go along with four birdies.

Paige Lyle and Selin Timur tied for sixth with two-over scores of 218. They matched each other the entire event, turning in rounds of 73-71-74.

Lexie Toth tied for 13th with a five-over score of 221. The nation’s seventh-ranked player shot rounds of 74-74-73. Madison Lellyo tied for 29th after hanging a 10-over 226 (72-76-78).

Julie Steinbauer played as an individual and tied for 62nd with a score of 237 (79-80-78).  

Rollins will next participate in the Harvard Invitational, April 1-2 at The Oaks Club in Sarasota.
