WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 28, 2017) – The Rollins swim teams honored a quartet of seniors before the women took on the Lynn Fighting Knights, Saturday afternoon. The Tars fell to Lynn by a score of 147-55. The men, including seniors Branford Rimbert and Benjamin Gebauer, competed as an exhibition.
Grace Hansen paced the Tars, earning a pair of second place finishes, touching the wall at 4:41.84 in the 400 Yard Individual Medley, and at 2:15.20 in the 200 Yard Backstroke.
Cara Dealy tallied a second place finish in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:12.58. Makenzie Grider earned second in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:53.38, holding off the third place finisher from Lynn by .08 seconds. Taylor Wilks sprinted to a second place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, stopping the clock at 26.26.
Rachel Acers dove into the Alfond Pool for her last competition and earned a pair of third place finishes, swimming the 100 Yard Freestyle in 58.72, and the 200 Yard Freestyle in 2:03.02. Fellow senior Kylie Klotzbach anchored a pair of second place relay teams in her final meet. She teamed up with Erin Hartigan, Dealy, and Acers to post a time of 1:46.39 in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, and with Hansen, Wilks, and Dealy to register a 4:10.80 in the 400 Yard Medley Relay.
Rollins will now take a two week break to prepare for their next competition, the Sunshine State Conference Championship. The event will be held from Thursday, February 16, through Sunday, February 19 in Orlando, Florida.
