EATONTON, Ga. (March 21, 2017) – Rollins tied for the second-best round of the final day and jumped into 10th place at the finish of the Georgia College Bobcat Invitational.

Rollins sophomore Sam Grindle shot a three-over 67 on Tuesday, the best round of the entire tournament.  

The Tars were near the back of the leaderboard after Monday with scores of 311-303 before posting a 292 Tuesday and grab a spot in the top-10. Rollins’ 66-over par 906 earned key regional points with less than two months left in the season.

Lynn won the event with a 32-over 872 while West Florida took runner-up with a 38-over 878. Lander finished third with a 43-over 883.

Grindle had scores of 76-77 on Monday and vaulted 31 spots into a tie for 12th after his 67 on Tuesday. His 10-over 22 was nine shots off the pace with West Florida’s Chandler Blanchet and Lynn’s Manuel Torres tying for medalist honors.

Will Hall also had a solid final round, shooting a four-over 74 after scores of 81-72 to tie for 31st with a 17-over 227. Jakob Van de Flierdt tied for 55th with a 22-over 232 (82-74-76) and Collin Engelhardt tied for 76th after scores of 81-80-76 (237). Barry Babbitt shot a 73 in the first round and 75 in the final 18, but his second-round score was wiped due to a disqualification.

Rollins will close its 2017 regular season April 23-25 at the Sunshine State Conference Championships, hosted by Florida Tech in Melbourne.
