NORMAN, Okla. (November 19, 2016) – Fresh off a victory at the McDonough Cup, the Rollins men’s golf team closed the fall season ranked No. 7 in the Bushnell Golf Division II Coaches Poll.

The Tars started the year unranked, but rocketed up the poll as the season progressed. Rollins came in at No. 13 in the second ranking of the season before grabbing its spot in the top-10.

West Florida earned seven first-place votes and tops the rankings, followed by Lynn at No. 2 and Florida Southern at No. 3. Barry and Nova Southeastern round out the top-5.

In all, seven teams from the Sunshine State Conference appeared in the ranking, all among the top-14.

Rollins finished no worse than fourth in any of its four tournaments this season. The year started with a victory at the Kiawah Island Invitational and concluded with a convincing win on their home course at the McDonough Cup.

Jakob Van de Flierdt is carrying a 71.40 stroke average, tied for 18th best in the nation. He was medalist at the McDonough Cup. Barry Babbitt has a top-10 finish and 72.75 stroke average while Sam Grindle is averaging 73 stroke a round. Collin Engelhardt won the LeMoyne Fall Invitational and has a pair of top-10 finishes on the year. Will Hall tied for third at the Kiawah Island Invite to start the year.

Rollins will be back on the links for the 2017 championship season in February.
