WINTER PARK, Fla. (July 23, 2009) – The Rollins women’s tennis squad was named an ITA All-Academic team while five women’s players and three men were honored as ITA Scholar Athletes, it was announced Thursday.
As at team, the Rollins women posted a 3.31 cumulative grade point average in the 2009 spring semester. Psychology majors Margaret Junker and Bradleigh Lore, politics major Kayli Ragsdale, international business major Stefanyia Tkach, and media and cultural studies major Ali Crocker were all named ITA Scholar Athletes.
Neil Clausen, with a perfect 4.0 grade point average in economics, highlights three Rollins men named Scholar Athletes. Fellow economics majors Andrew Johnson and Jeff Morris were also named to the list.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
