No. 32 Rollins (7-6) vs. No. 10 Embry-Riddle (4-3)

The Tars split a busy week, going 2-2 over Spring Break. Rollins opened with a loss to Division I New Jersey Institute of Technology, but recovered to convincingly defeat No. 41 Bluefield State and Alabama-Huntsville, 7-2 and 9-0 respectively. Rollins then closed out the week with a 7-2 loss to No. 23 St. Mary’s. The Tars will now turn their attention to Embry-Riddle; Rollins will look to close out their non-conference slate with an upset of the No. 10 Eagles.
TRACKING THE TARS:
The Tars have amassed a 42-36 overall record in singles action on the year. Ziad Melhaoui and Francesco Racanelli have both earned 8-5 marks. Melhaoui has seen action in the second through sixth positions, while Racanelli has played out of the first three spots. Cody Gubin has gone 7-1 in the sixth spot on his way to an 8-2 overall record in his sophomore campaign. Senior, Patrick Sell, continues to get most of the first position action, producing a 4-5 overall record.
Rollins continues to mix up their doubles pairs, having now used 10 different teams on the year, achieving a 22-17 overall record. Ahmed Albitar and Daniel Ferl have seen much of the first position play, earning a 5-3 record in the one spot and a 7-5 overall mark. Gubin and Sell have played out of the second spot in recent matches, posting a 3-1 record.
TRACKING THE EAGLES:
Embry-Riddle is coming off of a victory over Lewis, shutting out the Flyers 9-0 to earn the win.
The No. 10 Eagles have used seven individual players, notching a 23-16 overall singles record on the year. Juan Ortiz Couder, the No. 9 player in the south region, has registered a 5-2 record, playing exclusively out of the first position. Andres Donayre has tallied a 5-1 mark in 2017, going 4-1 in the fifth spot, and 1-0 in the sixth.
Embry-Riddle has only sent out four different pairings in the dual meet season, amassing a record of 10-11 in doubles play. Carlos Becke and Deepak Vishavkarma sky-rocketed up the most recent south region rankings and now sit as the No. 3 team. The two have gone 4-3 on the year, playing out of the first position.
The Tars will return to conference play, as they host No. 2 Saint Leo at the Martin Tennis Complex on Wednesday, March 29. The match is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
