WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 17, 2009) – The Rollins women’s tennis team, behind a successful fall season, will begin their 2009-10 campaign ranked 11th in the nation and fifth in the South Region, it was announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The Tars ended their 2008-09 season ranked 10th in the nation with a record of 20-4 and spent most of the final month ranked in the top-10. Rollins advanced to the finals of the Sunshine State Conference Championship where they fell to second ranked Lynn and advanced to the NCAA South Region Tournament, but were bounced out by Barry in a 5-4 battle.
Top singles player
Roshni Luthra will head into her junior season as the nation’s 21st ranked singles player while being ranked ninth in the South Region. Rollins No. 1 doubles tandem of
Kayli Ragsdale and
Margaret Junker are ranked ninth in the always tough South Region.
Rollins’ 2009-10 champoinship seson begins February 5 on the road against Tampa.
