WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 14, 2017) – The Tars opened their 2017 campaign with a 6-3 defeat at the hands of the Flagler Saints.  With the loss Rollins opens the season 0-1, while No. 12 Flagler improves to 4-1 on the season

The Tars jumped out to an early lead, winning two of the three doubles matches.  Shannon Etten and Alexandra Borg earned a hard fought, 9-7, win over Mary Jo Nanti and Patrycja Maslanka.  Sophomore Teresa Kaiser and Savanna Fuller defeated Felicitas Runkel and Hilary Hanton 8-5.

The Saints stormed back when singles play began, downing the Tars in five of the six matches.  Kaiser notched Rollins’ lone singles win out of the sixth position.  The Omaha, Nebraska native defeated Hanton in a close bout, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.

Next up the Tars welcome Arkansas-Fort Smith to the Martin Tennis Complex on Thursday, February 16.  The match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
