BRADENTON, Fla. (April 21, 2017) – Rollins could not earn a berth in the Sunshine State Conference Championship Game, falling to top-seeded Barry, 5-0, in semifinal action.  The Tars fall to 11-10 on the year, and will continue play with the SSC Tournament Third Place Match.  The Buccaneers stay undefeated at 24-0 on the year.

Barry swept the doubles play to take a commanding 3-0 lead over the Tars.  All three matches finished with a score of 8-1.

The Bucs captured the first two singles matches to put the contest to rest. Isa Rapisarda Calvo, the No. 31 player in the country captured a straight set victory in the second position, while No. 16 Sonja Larsen won in the fifth.  Alexandra Borg was locked in a tight battle in the fourth position, but the match went unfinished.

The Tars will now look forward to the SSC Tournament Third Place Game which will take place tomorrow, April 22, at 3:30 p.m.  Rollins will take on the loser of the other semifinal matchup between the second-seeded Lynn Fighting Knights and the third-seeded Florida Southern Moccasins.  Lynn entered the SSC Tournament 18-1 and the No. 2 team in the country, while the Mocs sit at 14-6, ranked No. 25.
