SET-UP:
After dropping a three-game series to the Lynn Fighting Knights 2-1 this past weekend, the Tars continue the season with their second consecutive conference road trip, this time to Florida Southern College. The Tars sit at 18-13 overall this season, and 3-6 in the SSC, where they currently sit sixth in the conference standings. The Florida Southern College Mocs are 25-6 overall this season, 6-3 in the SSC, and have also just moved in the Division II top-25 rankings at No. 25 this week. The Mocs have put together an impressive 17 game win streak over the month of March, and began April with a doubleheader sweep over Palm Beach Atlantic 7-2, and 6-4.   

TRACKING THE TARS:

Peter Nicoletto had the hot bat in the Tars last series against Lynn University, going 8-14 through three games. Nicoletto hit his seventh triple of the season, which brought his career total to 18, and a tie for first place in program history with legend John Castino. Nicoletto leads the Tars with a .354 batting average, and an incredible .701 slugging percentage, to go along with a team best 29 RBI, and seven home runs. Senior Mike Purcell is hitting .352 this season, with 45 hits and 19 RBI on the season. Brian Brooker is batting .348 on the season, he also has 39 hits, eight of which were doubles, and five home runs on the season. As a team, the Tars are batting .299, with 325 hits, and 175 RBI.    

On the mound for the Tars, AJ Chacon leads the Tars in wins, with five  and an ERA of 2.86. Brad Case is 4-4 on the year, and has compiled an ERA of 3.43 this season. Joey Vecchione has tallied a team best six saves on the season, through 21.1 innings pitched.

TRACKING THE MOCS:

The Mocs are led by Cody Burgess, who is batting .381 on the season. He has generated a team best 51 hits, with 27 RBI in 31 games, and has eight home runs. Omar Villaman has the best batting average on the team at .444, he has managed 48 hits on the year, including seven doubles and one triple.

Mocs ace Jake Walsh is 7-1 on the season with a 1.98 ERA. He has 57 strikeouts through the 59 innings he has pitched. Logan Browning is 5-1 on the season, with a 2.72 ERA and Chase Pilato is 4-1 on the season, with a 3.38 ERA.
