MELBOURNE, Fla. (April 10, 2017) – Teammates Peter Nicoletto and Brad Case were honored by the Sunshine State Conference for their standout performances against the tenth-ranked Florida Southern Mocs this past weekend. The Tars won the first and last game of the series against the Mocs, to take the series 2-1.
Nicoletto led the Tars offense going 4-11 on the weekend. Of his four hits this weekend, three were home runs, good for a 1.128 slugging percentage. He also had six RBI and scored the Tars lone run in the second game of the series against the Mocs. This was his 10th multi-hit game of the season and third time this year with 2 or more homers in a game. Nicoletto now has 10 home runs on the year to lead the Tars, and is batting .355 on the season. He also tied a career-high with five RBIs in a game.
Brad Case was on the mound for the Tars in their third game of the series. Case pitched eight innings, gave up only four hits, one earned run, and had a career best 10 strikeouts. He faced 29 batters and didn’t walk a single player. Case improves his overall record on the year to 5-4, with a 3.15 ERA, and is third in the SSC with 66 strikeouts.
Rollins is now 20-14 overall and 5-7 in the SSC after its series with tenth-ranked Florida Southern. The Tars continue with conference play vs. defending national champions Nova Southeastern on April 13-14 at home.
