INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 5, 2017) – Rollins women’s basketball earned its 16th all-time bid into the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament, it was announced on Selection Sunday.

The Tars are the five-seed in the tournament and will meet four-seed Florida Southern in the first round on Friday, March 10. Top-seed Eckerd will host the event in St. Petersburg, March 10-13.

Rollins boasts a 20-7 overall record and were runners-up in the Sunshine State Conference with a 14-4 mark. The Tars ended the regular season on a 12-game winning streak, but were bounced from the Sunshine State Conference Tournament opening round by Florida Tech.

The Tars make a return trip to the NCAA postseason and a fifth appearance in the last six years. Since 1995, Rollins has been in the NCAA Tournament 16 times, advancing to the Elite Eight and national semifinals in 2012.

Rollins and Florida Southern split in the regular season with each winning on the other’s home floor. The winner will advance to play the winner of top-seed Eckerd and eight seed Lee. The McArthur Center in St. Petersburg will be the venue for all seven games of the tournament. Game times will be announced Monday, March 6.
