SAINT LEO, Fla. (January 21, 2017) – The Tars ventured westward to Saint Leo to take on the Lions and the Trinity Tigers is a tri-meet this Saturday afternoon.  Both the men and women’s teams came up short against both opponents.

The Tars men’s teams were outscored by Saint Leo 63-187, while the Tigers beat Rollins by a score of 63-191.

Benjamin Gebauer registered a second place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle to lead the Rollins squad.  The graduate student stopped the clock in 48.33, just .12 seconds behind the winner.

Arron Nestor recorded a top-3 finish in the 1000 Yard Freestyle event.  The junior touched the wall in 10:17.04.  Freshman Luiggi Reno continued a strong season, registering a third place finish in the 200 Yard Individual Medley, completing the race in a time of 2:05.07.  Ailin McCullough also recorded a third place finish, in the 200 Yard Butterfly, with a time of 2:06.40.

The Trinity Tigers upended the Tars women’s squad 90-155, while the Tars battled Saint Leo, but came up short, 80-168.

Grace Hansen led the Tars, registering a first and a second in her individual events.  The Baltimore, Maryland native won the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:11.67, almost eight seconds faster then her next closest competition.  The sophomore finished second in the 500 Yard Freestyle, touching the wall in 5:20.23, less than one second out of first place.

Cara Dealy also registered an individual win in the meet, topping the 200 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:16.41.  She also managed a third place result in the 200 Yard Backstroke.

Makenzie Grider finished second in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, completing the distance event in 10:50.67.  Taylor Wilks continues to impress in her shortened season, finishing second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:07.77.  Kylie Klotzbach recorded a third place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, sprinting to a time of 26:36.

The Tars return home next Saturday, January 28, when they will host Sunshine State Conference rival Lynn at the Alfond Pool.
