GROVELAND, Fla. (September 22, 2015) - Rivals Rollins and Florida Southern opened their 2015 season by facing off in their annual fall showcase this past weekend. The Mocs bested the Tars both Saturday and Sunday.

The Tars men’s team fell in the Saturday meet 800-380, while the Moccasin women notched a 705-495 victory over the Rollins women.

Rollins top men's skier was Joshua Briant, placing second overall. He scored 190 points, placing fourth in both the slalom (3.00 buoys at 38 feet off) and jumps (134 feet), and came in second in tricks (5,820).

Leading the way for the Moccasin men was the meet's overall men's winner Cole McCormick after winning the jumps competition, finishing second in the slalom, and third in tricks. The Mocs Thibault Dailand finished first in both slalom and tricks.

On the women’s side Erika Lang won the tricks competition (4,920). She was also third in the slalom (1.00 buoys at 38 feet off).  Chantel Singer placed second in tricks (3,390) and fourth in slalom (3.50 buoys at 35 feet off)

Lauren Morgan took home first place honors for the Mocs in the overall competition, as the only skier to compete in all three events. She won jumps, was second in slalom and sixth in tricks.

In Sunday's meet, the FSC men won 770-390 and the Mocs women also claimed a 475-355 victory.

Briant again finished second and was the top skier for the Rollins men’s team as he posted a score of 195 points. He finished first in both tricks (6,370) and jumps (165 feet), while finishing seventh in slalom (4.00 buoys at 35 feet off). The Moccasin’s McCormick was the top overall men’s skier on Sunday as well, tallying 210 points after placing second in jumps and third in both slalom and tricks.

Rollins’ Lang (4,760) and Singer (3,390) finished first and second in the tricks competition again on Sunday. The Moccasins’ top performer was Morgan as she tied a NCWSA record with a long jump of 157 feet.

The water ski teams are back in action this Saturday, Sept. 26, when they will compete in the NCWSA East Regionals.
