WINTER PAR, Fla. (February 18, 2012) - The Rollins Tars baseball team inched their way closer to a sweep of the Bentley Falcons as they captured a 6-2 victory Saturday afternoon at Alfond Stadium.
Anthony Figliolia, Kevin Mager, Brian Lattanzi and Josh Band each registered two hits off the Falcons. Figliolia tallied a double, a walk and a run scored while also earning the save in two innings of work. Mager added two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base.
Bentley took the early 1-0 lead in the opening frame, but was taken back as the Tars opened their half of the inning with a pair of runs scored. Kevin Mager drove in Zach Persky and Figliolia on a ball hit to left field.
Rollins then added three more runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-2 lead. Falcons starting pitcher Rob Finneran hit a bump in the road giving up three straight hits to start the frame. Mager led off the inning with a single and then moved to second on a stolen base. Sean Reilly then laced a ball to right field to drive in Mager for the first run of the inning. Reilly then stole his first bag of the season to move to second and finally scored on a RBI single by Lattanzi. He then crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly.
Nick Adams scored the Tars' final run of the game in the eighth. Adams reached first on a single through the left side and advanced to third on a Lattanzi double. He then scored on the sacrifice fly (Persky).
The Tars' bullpen comprised of southpaw Jack Murray and Anthony Figliolia, shutdown the Falcons keeping them scoreless through four innings, only allowing one hit.
In five innings of work, Mike Herrmann (1-1) earned the win striking out three and allowing two earned runs. Bentley's Finneran was charged with the loss in 3.2 innings on the hill.
