SKILLMAN, N. J. (May 31, 2012) - Two singles players and a
doubles tandem earned ITA All-America honors while Rollins finished sixth in
the final ITA rankings of the season, it was announced Thursday.
Lucas Jovita and Jeff Morris both earned All-America
accolades in singles while Jovita and Jason Alabaster landed on the doubles
All-America team.
Jovita capped off his historic senior season by ranking No.
2 in the final singles poll. The Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year
fell to eventual No. 1 ranked Georgi Rumenov of Armstrong Atlantic in the first
match of the season, but then rattled off 21 straight victories to close the
season. In the fall, Jovita won the ITA Division II National Championship and
became the first Tar to capture the Small College Super Bowl title.
Morris became an All-American in singles for the third time
in his stellar career, finishing 2012 ranked 10th in singles. He was
unbeaten in Sunshine State Conference play on the season and went 7-2 against nationally
ranked competition. Morris was also named First Team All-SSC all four years of
his career at Rollins.
Jovita and Alabaster played the top doubles spot for the
Tars all season, posting a 16-5 record overall and 4-1 mark in conference play.
Newcomer Malte Christesen finished the year in the national
singles rankings, coming in 47th.
