Williams Leads Tars at Holloway Festival

LAKELAND, Fla. (September 2, 2017) – The Rollins men's cross country team took fifth place in its season opener at the Holloway Park Preseason Festival on Saturday. Florida Southern and Southeastern jointly hosted event in Lakeland.

The Tars totaled 155 points on the day. Embry-Riddle won with 27 points, followed by Florida Southern (39) and Saint Leo (64). Morehouse finished fourth. Southeastern won the NAIA division with 39 points.

Jack Williams led the way for Rollins, taking 77th with a time of 22:19 over the 5k course. Luke Parsley was 80th in 23:22. Newcomers Eric Castaneda (28:04) and Marcus Camacho (28:05) finished 84th and 85th respectively.

Cyrus Bonyadi posted a time of 28:36 (88th), Jonathon Tyler stopped the clock at 30:48 (89th) and Max Opechowski was 90th in 30:48.

Rollins is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Florida Tech Invitational in Melbourne.
