Rollins Earns Spot on Preseason Poll for Seventh-Straight Season

WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 29, 2018) – Entering into their 11th season of action, the Rollins women's lacrosse team has been tabbed at No. 11 on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Preseason Coaches Poll, organization officials announced, Monday.

The nod marks the seventh-straight season the Tars earned a spot on the preseason poll, and ninth consecutive season the Tars have received votes.

The Adelphi University Panthers claimed the number one spot in the IWLCA Division II Coaches Preseason Poll, claiming 24 of the 25 available first place votes. Adelphi posted a 21-1 record last year en route to winning the 2017 NCAA National Championship.

Florida Southern, who lost to Adelphi in the Championship game, checks in at #2. The third and fourth spots in the poll are claimed by last year's NCAA semi-finalist squads, Lindenwood and Le Moyne. LIU Post completes the top five grouping.

Florida Tech, Queens, New Haven, Regis, and East Stroudsburg earn the sixth through tenth positions, respectively, followed by Rollins at 11, Mercy at 12, and Limestone at 13.  New York Tech and Mercyhurst round out the top 15 correspondingly.

Three teams from the Sunshine State Conference have made their mark on this year's preseason rankings, led by Florida Southern at No. 2, while Florida Tech checks in at No. 6, and the Tars get the nod at 11th.  The Northeast 10 begins the season as one of the toughest conferences based on the pre-season poll numbers, with New Haven (#8), Stonehill (#17), and Pace (#18) joining Adelphi and Le Moyne to land five schools in the Top 20.  The PSAC will prove to be challenging, as well, as Mercyhurst (#15), West Chester (#16), Indiana University of Pennsylvania (#19), and Slippery Rock (#25) join ESU to land five in the Top 25.
