Chattanooga, Tenn. (September 1, 2017) – Rollins was unable to manage a comeback against the Mississippi College Choctaws in their season opener. The Choctaws were able to tally an early goal in the eighth minute against the Tars, that would end up sealing the victory.
How It Happened
First Half- The Choctaws came out of the gate strong, and they were able to take an early lead in the eighth minute behind a Liza Wise goal, her first of the season. Rollins would continue to battle back and outshot the Choctaws going into halftime, 4-1.
Second Half- The Tars continued to look for the equalizer all half long, despite coming close on a couple of half chances. Through the second half, Rollins continued to out shoot the Choctaws, 5-3. The Tars also had more opportunities on corner kicks throughout the game with three, but could not turn any of them on goal.
· This is the first time in six seasons that Rollins has dropped their season opener
· Kelly Rowswell recorded one save.
· Rollins recorded 16 fouls, while the Choctaws managed only four
Rollins will conclude their road trip when they face-off against regional foe Lee University on Sept. 3. Kick-off is slated for 1:30pm at Lee University.
