- Dubbed the “Tennis Star from South of the Border,” Rollins freshman Enrique Buse filled the number one slot on the 1948 men’s tennis team which defeated the University of Florida, sweeping 12 sets without a loss. That year the colorful Peruvian led the Tars to a 13-0 record and the title of Southern Intercollegiate Champions.
- In 1949, the team boasted a 24-game winning streak and Buse was named eastern Intercollegiate Tennis Champion.
- Buse was as active off the tennis courts as on. He served in numerous social organizations, including the Pan-American League and the International Relations Committee of the Knowles Memorial Chapel.
