Clay Starrett first joined the Rollins Athletics Department in the Summer of 2008 and was elevated to the Director of Operations in the Summer of 2016. His office is tasked with planning, setting up for, and managing all Rollins Athletics game day events. Starrett is responsible for establishing game day budgets, managing parking passes, coordinating staffing needs, assisting facility managers in upkeep, training interns, as well as the proper care and storage of Athletic and Physical Education Equipment.
Prior to moving to the role of Director of Operations, Clay served as the Interim Director for Athletic Communications in 2015-16. His office was charged with supporting and promoting Rollins' 22 varsity sports to students, fans, alumni and the community. In addition to overseeing communications efforts, Starrett also served on the Rollins Sports Hall of Fame Committee and was a voting member of the South Region for the D2SIDA Men’s Basketball Poll.
He served as the primary internal/external contact for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's rowing, men's and women's golf, and men's and women's tennis. Clay also functioned as the multimedia/social media director for each of Rollins’ 22 sports.
From 2013-15, he worked as the Associate Director of Communications at Rollins, serving as the primary contact for men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming, and men’s and women’s lacrosse. He was instrumental in implementing many new technologies, including the vast improvements in streaming audio and video for many Tars' sports. Toward the latter part of his time as the Associate, he focused communications efforts on social media and mobile apps while maintaining fresh designs for the official website.
Since 2009, Starrett has assisted in coordinating the scorer’s table for the ESPN Old Spice Classic at Disney's Wide World of Sports, one of the premier early-season Division I men's basketball tournaments. He is also involved in the AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships, the largest volleyball event in the world, held at both ESPN WWOS and the Orange County Convention Center,
Prior to moving to communications, Starrett served as the Operations Coordinator within Rollins Athletics where his duties ranged from managing game-day operations for Rollins home events to serving as the assistant staff advisor for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Starrett earned a B.A. in Mathematics from Rollins in 2008, where he was a member of the varsity baseball team. Clay is married to the former Tanya Jarvis and they have a daughter, Finley born April 2017.
