Rollins Completes Series Sweep Against Bentley

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 19, 2018) – Rollins completes the sweep over Bentley with an 11-4 win in the final game between the Tars and Falcons.

The Tars improve to 6-3 on the year, while Bentley drops to 1-5 overall this season.

Brandon Brundage and Luke Reidy each recorded three hits, while Nick Breen, Billy Lamm, and Nick Santucci all registered two RBI against the Falcons.

Garrett Leonard got the start on the mound for the Tars. The Fort Mill, South Carolina tossed five innings, only allowing three runs (two earned), to go along with six strikeouts and his second win of the year. Caleb Jakes and Brian Auerbach closed out the game in the final four innings, sealing the Tars victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Rollins wasted no time jumping out to an early lead, with Breen singling up the middle to get things started, as the Tars led 2-0 in the bottom of the first.

•Bentley would then answer and tie the score at two runs a piece in the top of the second, but Rollins was able to regain the lead, 3-2 behind a Reidy single, scoring Brundage before heading into the third.

• Once again it was the Tars offense who kept the momentum, plating two more scores in the bottom of the third. Lamm singled up the left, allowing Breen and Santucci to score.

• Santucci was walked with the bases loaded to bring the Tars advantage to 6-2

• Bentley would pick up a run in the top of the fifth, before the Tars offense exploded in the bottom of the seventh. Things got started when Santucci hit a solo shot over the center field wall, followed by two RBI singles from Russell and Brundage to increase the Tars led to 9-3.

• Rollins would tack on two additional runs in the bottom of the eighth, while Bentley scored one more in the top of the ninth, ending the game 11-4 in favor of the Tars.

NOTES:
• Eight different players scored a run for the Tars
• Rollins is now 37-8 all-time against the Falcons
• Head Coach Jon Sjogren is 327-302-3 in his 13th season at the helm of Rollins baseball
