The Tars will be looking to extend their three-game winning streak against Peach Belt Conference member Columbus State in a three-game series at Alfond Stadium. Rollins swept Bentley in their last series, taking game one 9-8, game two 14-2, and game three 11-4, while boosting their overall record to 6-3. The Cougars handled No.9 West Georgia, 13-4 their last time out, improving their overall record to 7-2.
TRACKING THE TARS:
Offensively, sophomore Nick Santucci has had the hot bat for the Tars as of late. The Franklin, Massachusetts native has tallied nine hits including four doubles, a triple, and a home run, to go along with nine RBI already this season. The senior class has really begun to shine for the Tars, with Nick Breen registering a team high 13 hits and five doubles. Fellow seniors Bryce Peterson and Brian Brooker have combined for 19 hits, 20 RBI, and six home runs. Junior Brandon Brundage has also found his groove offensively, generating 12 hits, three RBI, and two stolen bases as the Tars lead-off man.
Both Brad Case and Garrett Leonard have produced two wins on the hill. Case has compiled a 0.96 ERA in his three starts, pitching 18.2 innings and dishing out 12 strikeouts to opposing batters. Cameron Enck has also made three starts, tossing 13.1 innings in the blue and gold, while documenting a team-high 19 strikeouts.
TRACKING THE COUGARS:
The Cougars made easy work and completed the upset of No.9 ranked West Georgia. Frank Wager leads Columbus State offensively. The junior from Auburn, Alabama has started all nine games, and recorded a .355 batting average, to go along with five homeruns and 11 RBI. Also pitching in offensively is Austin Pharr, who has compiled 11 runs scored, 11 hits, four homeruns, and six RBI for the Cougars.
Kolton Ingram continues to be dominant on the mound for the red and blue. Ingram is currently 3-0 on the year, and has manged to strikeout 18 batters, as well as keep an ERA of 2.12. Perez Knowles has also been a force on the hill for the Cougars, tallying one win in three appearances, and a team-high 19 strikeouts.
·Santucci currently ranks first in the SSC in batting average (.563), slugging percentage (1.125), and on base percentage (0.696)
·Enck currently ranks tied for seventh in the SSC with 19 total strikeouts
·The Tars are currently 2-0 all-time against the Cougars
·Head Coach Jon Sjogren is 327-302-3 in his 13th season at the helm
Rollins will begin Sunshine State Conference play against Lynn University starting on Friday, March 2 at 6 p.m. at Alfond Stadium.
