Tars Can't Hold Off No.13 Mocs

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 8, 2018) – The Tars weren't able to hold off the No. 13 Mocs, as the Mocs were able to make a late comeback to take game three, 5-3.

Rollins totaled eight hits as a team. Cameron Meehan tallied two hits, as well as an RBI for the second straight day. Isaiah Russell led the Tars, going 2-3 at the plate, including a home run, and a run scored.

Brad Case got the start for the Tars. The junior tossed in 8.2 innings, allowing only six hits and one earned run. The Pelham, N.Y. native also registered six strikeouts against 31 total batters. Whit Drennan entered the game in relief of Case, as did Caleb Jakes.

  • Meehan would also smack an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the fifth, plating Brendan Brundage foe the Tars second run of the game, taking a 2-0 advantage over the Mocs.
  • The Mocs would cut the Tars lead in half in the top of the seventh, when they would score off of a wild pitch, Tars still led, 2-1.
  • Russell would push the Tars lead back to two runs with a solo home run to right center in the bottom of the seventh, Tars now led, 3-1.
  • Florida Southern's offense wouldn't go quietly, as they were able to rally and put up four runs in the top of the ninth inning, to take a 5-3 lead over the Tars.
  • The Tars could not make a comeback of their own, and would fall to the Mocs, 5-3.
