The Tars have dropped three straight Sunshine State Conference series, as they look to turn thing around against Saint Leo in a three-game set. The Tars weren't able to snatch a game from No, 13 Florida Southern after a couple of close games, that came down to the final inning. The Tars sit at 16-17 overall, and 4-11 in SSC play, where they sit ninth in the standings. Saint Leo is currently in a three-game skid, after dropping all three games to No. 20 Nova Southeastern. The Lions are 26-8 overall, with a 9-6 SSC mark, which is good for fourth place in the conference standings.
TRACKING THE TARS:
Rollins will be looking to end a nine-game skid against the Lions. The Tars will be looking to seniors Nick Breen, Bryce Peterson, and Brian Brooker over the three-game series. Breen sits second on the team with 40 hits this campaign, as well as batting average at .336. Peterson leads the Tars with a .343 batting average, and 10 home runs. Brooker has already managed to drive in a team best 40 RBI, which is also good for seventh best in the SSC.
Trying to slow down the Lions offense will be the pitching rotation of Cameron Enck, Brad Case, and Garrett Leonard. Enck has struck out 70 batters in 58.2 innings, which is the sixth most in the SSC. Case is 4-4 on the year, tossing in 66.2 innings, which ranks second in the conference. The junior has also racked up 54 strikeouts in 10 starts. Leonard has pitched in 43.2 innings, allowing 35 hits, while dishing out 43 punch outs to opposing batters.
TRACKING THE LIONS:
The Lions sit seventh in the seventh South Region poll of the year. The Green and Gold will look to get back on track with their high-powered offense which features multiple conference leaders. Pacing the Lions has been Peyton Isaacson, who leads the Lions with 39 RBI this campaign, and is second on the team with a .367 batting average. Zach Scott has generated 43 hits this season, including five triples which ranks second in the SSC. As a team, the Lions have accumulated 365 hits, and 261 runs scored, as well as compiled a .314 batting average.
On the mound for Saint Leo has been the rotation of Jordan Pandleton, Tyler Bauman, and Shane Haight. The trio has combined for 23 starts, 127.6 innings pitched, and 109 strikeouts. Isaacson has stamped 10 saves on the season already, which is first in the SSC.
