Tars Upended By Bucs On The Road

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (April 21, 2018) – Rollins couldn't find their rhythm offensively, falling to Barry in game one, 7-2 and again in game two, 6-2.   

Rollins now sits at 16-24 overall and 4-17 against Sunshine State Conference opposition.  The Bucs are now 19-22 on the year, and 6-15 in SSC play.

Game One:

  • The Bucs didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard, as they were able to put up five runs in the first three innings of play.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, the Bucs would add another two runs to their lead after a couple of fielding errors by the Tars, they now led 7-0.
  • Nick Breen would homer down the left field line, his second of the year, to give the Tars some hope in the bottom of the ninth, they still trailed 7-1.
  • Nick Santucci would register a late triple, but it wouldn't be enough as the Tars would drop game one of the doubleheader, 7-2.

Game Two:

  • The Tars held a slight lead after the top of the second inning, when Ted Meissner got thing started for the Tars with an RBI single, 1-0.
  • For the second straight game, the Bucs jumped out to an early lead, plating three runs, to take a 3-1 advantage.
  • The Bucs would add two more runs, one in the fifth and one in the seventh inning, which would increase their lead to 6-1.  
  • Bryce Peterson was brought home after a Grant Ashine double, but it wouldn't be enough as the Tars would fall for the second straight game, 6-2.

• Rollins still leads the all-time series vs Barry, 60-46

• Head Coach Jon Sjogren is 336-324-3 in his 13th season at the helm of Rollins baseball 

The Tars will return home to take on the University of Tampa Spartans for a three-game series. Game one is set to begin on Friday, April 27 at 6pm.
