Tars Unable to Overcome No. 4 Spartans

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 27, 2018) – Tars struggle against the No. 4 nationally-ranked Spartans, falling in game 10-1.

Rollins drops to 16-25 overall and 4-18 in the conference while No. 4 Tampa improves to 33-7, 21-1 in the Sunshine State Conference.

Billy Lamm led the Tars, going 3-4 from the plate. Cameron Meehan and Nick Santucci also registered hits on the night, with Meehan scoring the lone run on the night for the Blue and Gold. 

Brad Case got the start for the Tars on the mound. The junior tossed in 6.2 innings, allowing nine hits and five earned runs. The Pelham, New York native earned five strikeouts from the hill. Also, making an appearance on the mound was Mike Gaughan, Tate-Stone Frisina, and Anthony Trovato.

Tampa totaled 11 hits on the night, with seven different Spartans recording at least one hit. Darren Miller and Danny Sirven both drove in two runs for the Red and Black.

On the mound for Tampa was David Lebron with the start. Lebron moves to a perfect eight wins and no losses on the campaign. The senior tallied 10 strikeouts in seven innings of work.

 The Tars will gear up for a doubleheader tomorrow against Tampa. First pitch is slated for April 28, at 3 p.m. in Winter Park, Fla.
