Set-up: Coming off a series win over Lenoir-Rhyne to open the season, Rollins is back at Alfond Stadium to host West Florida in a three-game set, February 8-10. The Tars rode the right arm of SSC Pitcher of the Week Cameron Enck to a season opening 5-0 shutout win, fell 5-1 in game two and won the rubber match 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth. The Argos will meet a Sunshine State Conference opponent for the second-straight week, having hosted fifth-ranked Florida Southern in Pensacola to start the year. UWF took the opener 9-5 before falling in the next two games 4-2 and 6-5. Temperatures in the upper 70s and partly cloudy skies are forecasted for the first two days with a possibility of rain coming in on Sunday.
Tracking the Tars; Rollins relied on its pitching staff in week one of the season as the Tars rank second in the SSC with 32 total strikeouts. Enck threw seven shutout innings and allowed just one hit and one walk with seven strikeouts to highlight the staff. Anthony Trovoto made two appearances out of the pen and earned the game three win. Trovoto and Enck are two of four Tars pitchers with a zero ERA. Jimmy Robbins and Drew Daczkowski both struck out seven in four innings during their appearances. Sam LaFontaine is hitting .375 with two RBIs to lead the Rollins bats. Jared Herron (.333) also had a pair of RBIs on the Tars lone home run of the season. Luke Reidy (.200) has two doubles on the year.
Tracking the Argos: West Florida are averaging better than five runs a game and hitting .265 as a team after the season opening series with Florida Southern. Matthew Estrada leads the way with a .417 batting average, driving in three runs and striking out just once. Robert Lopez is hitting .400 on the year while Joey Bend carries a .364 batting average. Daniel Floyd picked on the Argos lone win, throwing 3.1 innings of relief. Ace Andrew Vaccacio started game one, allowing one run on five hits. Tony Kucera (.4.15 ERA) and Tony Rossi (5.06 ERA) also got starts for the Argos.
