ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (February 12, 2019) – Rollins got after the Flagler bullpen, scoring all its runs after the sixth to comeback and beat the Saints on the road 6-2 Tuesday night.
The win is a fourth-straight for the Tars (5-1) while Flagler drops to 5-3. The nonconference foes will meet again this season, April 16 in Winter Park.
Pitchers Garrett Leonard and Anthony Trovato led the Tars to victory with Whit Drennan earning the save. Leonard got the start, allowing two runs on just one hit with 11 strikeouts and no walks in six full innings. He sat down 10 of the last 11 batters he faced. Trovato threw the seventh, giving up a solo homer and was the pitcher of record, improving to 2-0 on the year. Drennan didn't allow a hit in the eighth and ninth for the save.
Nick Santucci went 2-4 with a run scored wile Jack Gonzalez continued his hot streak, batting 1-4 with a towering home run to left in the seventh. Luke Reidy hit 1-2 with a two-RBI double in the eighth to seal the game for the Tars.
Kyle Hansen took the loss for Flagler, allowing two runs in a third of an inning. The Saints used four pitchers over the final three innings. Flagler recorded just three hits; Sean Lawlor had a solo homer, Franke Martello hit a double and Jason Moore had a base knock.
Rollins had a late start and trailed by a run early. The Tars came up with two runs in the seventh to get the lead back on Gonzalez's homer and Isaiah Russell sac fly.
In the eighth, Rollins scored three more runs. Santucci led off with a double and was brought in on a Kyle Hintz sac bunt. Reidy then ripped a pinch hit, two-RBI double, scoring Hintz and Kyle Bachle.
