WINTER PARK, FLA. (February 16, 2019) – Rollins baseball picked up a 9-2 win over Bentley Saturday, running its winning streak to six-straight.
The Tars (7-1) racked up 14 hits while Jimmy Robins got his first collegiate win on the hill. The Falcons (0-5) were held to just five hits with Paul Frisoli taking the loss.
The pushed Rollins record to 7-1 while Bentley drops 0-5.
Robbins was solid through 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits with nine strikeouts to just one walk. Anthony Trovato tossed the final 2.1, scattering two hits.
Nick Santucci led the way for the Tars, going 3-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs – highlighted with a first inning homer to right. Cameron Meehan also had a big day, going 3-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Luke Reidy (2-3) and Joe Cosgrove (2-3) also had multi-hit days.
Santucci set the pace early with a homer to right in the first inning. Jared Herron scored on a Meehan single to give the Tars a 2-0 lead in the first. Reidy singled through the right side to plate Jack Gonzalez and Sam LaFontaine got Meehan across the plate with a sac fly – putting the Tars in control 4-0 after one.
The Tars pushed the lead to 6-0 in the fifth on a Meehan two-run double and LaFontaine RBI double later in the inning.
Bentley scord two in the seventh, but Rollins got them both back in the eighth behind RBI singles from Santucci and Herron.
Ryan Berardino was 2-4 on the day had a run for the Falcons. Jake Pierce hit 2-4 with two RBIs. Bentley pitcher Paul Frisoli took the loss and allowed four runs on four hits in two innings of work.
