COLUMBUS, Ga. (February 22, 2019) – Jack Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to eight games, but Rollins saw its winning streak come to an end, falling 3-2 to Columbus State on the road Friday.
The Tars (8-2) had won seven in a row heading into the game. Columbus State (6-4) used timely hitting in the middle innings to take the series opener.
Cameron Enck took the loss on the hill, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks in five innings. The senior racked up six strikeouts. Kyle Kramer tossed an inning and two thirds, allowing one run, before Whit Drennan came on and gave up one hit over the final inning and a third.
Cougars starter Kolton Ingram got the win, allowing two runs on five hits with eight strikeouts in seven innings. Devin Dudal earned the save. Grant Berry hit 4-4 with an RBI on a solo homer. Chase Brown also had a solo shot and hit 1-3.
Rollins scored quickly with Gonzalez knocking in Nick Santucci in the top of the first.
Brown's homer in the second and a Frank Wagner sac fly in the third put the Cougars on top 2-1. Berry added another run in the sixth with a solo home run to center.
Reidy got the Tars within a run in the top of the seventh with a two-out home run to right. That would end Rollins scoring for the night as they went down in order the eighth and ninth.
